Our hands are our toolbox. They are in many ways crucial to the human experience, enabling tasks as delicate as threading a needle or as strenuous as chopping wood. After a neurological injury, it’s common to experience deficits in your arms and hands. Common impairments can include hemiplegia/hemiparesis (weakness or paralysis to one side of the body), tetraplegia following spinal cord injury, and increased tone and spasticity. At TRYAbility, we understand the frustration and difficulties that come with not being able to use your arms and hands and how vital these functions are for everyday functional activities. Our skilled therapists are here to help you get back to doing the things you want and need to do.

There are many incredible benefits to therapy for patients that have experienced a loss of function in their Upper Extremities. Many of which directly impact an individuals daily quality of life and may include:
- To enhance functional gains in daily living activities (ADL’s)
- Improves strength, active range of motion and muscle flexibility.
- To isolate any specific muscle group and strengthen it, without the muscle tone (which is usually increased) influencing the movement, allowing the muscle groups to counteract the spastic muscle.
- Improve sensory integration resulting in tremendous gains in coordination and function
- To facilitate manual therapy techniques without assistance from others.
